COSTUME DESIGNER,ASSISTANT,       & ILLUSTRATOR

One of my favorite things about theatre is its ephemerality. For a captivating moment it pulls us in, at times exhilarating, visceral, almost tangible, and then it’s over. That’s the beauty of great storytelling, and contributing to that aspect is my greatest passion as a costume designer. With every project I cannot wait to dive deep into character and story analysis to help illuminate the human condition and spark imaginations. Well thought out costume design enables and empowers the characters to share their story with us, reveals hidden truths, and on a macro level is an integral element of a show’s overall world building. In my design process I take great joy in collaborating, researching, and conceptualizing my designs, drawing on inspiration from history, art, and fashion to create designs that are detailed and impactful.

 

Originally from Bismarck, ND, I received my BA from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where I triple majored in Theatre Arts (Costume Design focus), Classical Studies, and Heritage and Museum Studies. While in school there, I was honored to receive the first-place award in National Costume Design at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region 5 in 2017 for my design of The Country Wife. I also received the Jane C. Waldbaum Archaeological Field School Scholarship through the Archaeological Institute of America to work as an archaeological illustrator at the Villa del Vergigno Archaeological Project near Florence, Italy.

 

I completed my MFA in Costume Design at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and graduated in May 2021. Since then I've been at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival first as a Costume Assistant, and now as a Costume Project Manager. I am looking forward to creating and sharing many more stories through my art in the future.
